Why I blog

In response to Andrea's question:

Does anyone remember the old show My So-Called Life? Remember how Angela Chase always had a voice-over about what she was thinking? Ever since seeing that show, I've pretty much had a "voice-over" in my head running constantly. Blogging is a place for me to take that nonsense train of thought and put it out for the entire webiverse to see and read. Sometimes that includes complaining, sometimes it's encouraging, sometimes it's just a bunch of nothing, but it always makes me feel better to get it all out there...... so thanks for reading :)

Ha! That is too funny. I totally remember that show and I love voice overs. Isn't blogging fun, where we can get it all out??

Except do you remember the show Just The Ten Of Us with all those kids? Wendy was the hot blond? Well now I find myself walking around with a notebook and pencil handy to write down that inner monologue...I feel like Constance Connie.

Did I lose you on that one??

Wow, I just read "your story" about TTC with PCOS and I really hope you are blessed with a pregnancy soon. It's just awful to feel ready for a baby and instead of moving forward with baby plans like other people, you have to be at the mercy of something else.

I'm not really sure what TTC with PCOS IS, or what causes it, or what exactly it does to you. Is it painful...I'm gonna check around for some more answers.

Really loving your blog though!

That is a great connection. As I was reading your post, I kept thinking that blogging is really a way to have your inner voice do some talking.

i loved that show... what a great answer to the question why blog:)

Now you said that well! Here's to getting it all out of our heads:)

I used to love that show! I've always used my blog just to showcase my crafts... maybe it's time for my internal monologue to come out...

I remember the show and Just the 10 of us that Mama's Losin It mentioned too. Very good explanation for Why Blog.

Heather said...

That is really the best explanation of blogging I've ever read. :D

Cheers and congrats on your SITS day!

Congrats on your SITS day- are we supposed to let the voices out? ;) LOL Good as reason as any to blog.

That's a great way of explaining why we blog. I should print that out and give a copy to my family.

that's so funny; totally cute. I never watched the show but I caught clips once in awhile.

Becky said...

I totally blog for the same reason! I usually focus on writing about my little guy but I am starting to write more and more about inner ramblings. : ) There seems to be so many!

Rhea said...

I have voices in my head too...

that's a great explanation! hope you enjoy your SITS day! :)

Happy SITS day! You're good as long as that voice doesn't start telling you what to do. "Blog now. Blog NOW!"

I always wondered if anyone else has a running commentary in their head, like I do!

Heather Adkins said...

I remember watching that show as a high school freshman every day on MTV in hopes of saving it from cancellation.

I think having a place to post our thoughts keeps us from being all angsty like Angela was!

Happy SITS day! My so-called life was one of my fave shows when it was on:)

Ronnica said...

Good point. I've always had a voice over in my head. I used to narrate my life to myself in the bathroom (WHEN I WAS A KID...just wanted to clarify).

Liz said...

So what do you think of me, I've got more than one blog...

Aubrey said...

Oh, the voices! I think we all have a little of that going on in our heads! LOL

Jenni said...

I do this, but I am a little nervous letting all the voices in my head out for others to read. You can't always get that stuff back!

Melissa Lester said...

I love getting all my thoughts out and knowing that only those who want to read them visit. So it's like having a support group of friends who want to be there.

I notice that you live in Canton, Ohio. My college roommate was from Canton, and I visited her home one weekend. We went to a football game at her alma mater, McKinley High School. It was a fun weekend!

Congrats on being featured today over at SITS!!! I adore your blog and can't wait to go back and catch up!

Hugs....Summer

Well it makes me feel better to call the voices in my head a "running commentary" instead. Sounds less mental-insitution-worthy.

Happy SITS day!

Alexa said...

ya- I for one LOVED My so called life... and like the idea that the voices in my brain actually serve a purpose! thanks for the smile and realization sitsta!

Congrats on the Saucy Blog feature, today.
I loved that show ( so long ago ). Good explanation.

I LOVE that show!!! Too funny! I have always had "voices" in my head. They keep me up at night. I equate it to hamsters running in the cage - constantly running, going no where. I say the hamsters in my head keep me up at night, constantly going over stuff - analyzing, overanalyzing, etc.

anyway - good for you for blogging about it!!! :)

Ha! I love it!

Peggy said...

If I got it all out of my head I'd end up in a padded room. But blogging is good therapy.

Alison said...

Oh yes...I hear you. It's good to get all of that narration and commentary out there and get some responses to it, too.

Happy SITS day!

Isn't it nice to be able to SAY that among people who understand??? Great choice for your SITS post--Happy SITS Day!

hmmm... I never thought of it this way (and I have not seen that old show...not that I'm too young for it...I'm definitely not!)

Happy SITS day! Love your site! Don't give up with the baby thing, God works in many ways. Maybe He is teaching you patience (spelling). Thank you for sharing. Cheryl

I so loved that show!!!! And I felt the same way. Except now I think if I wrote down the thoughts that the voice over was doing in my head people might think I have completely lost my marbles or fallin off of my rocker. :-)

Happy SITS Day!!!!

That is the best reason to as to why one should blog ever!

I was in love with that show. You can still catch episodes online...which I do from time to time. I can't resist. It brings back loads of memories! Congrats on your FB (featured blogger) status. :)

I think putting our thoughts out there for others to disect and help us figure em out is a good thing. Kinda like free therapy!

Melissa said...

Ha ha! You explained it perfectly, it's all about release! I forgot about that show. How many of Angela's problems would have been solved if only she had a blog! :)

{amy k.} said...

sometimes writing is the best medicine!

Melodie said...

I loved that show!

For me, blogging is like keeping a diary, without getting hand craps from holding the pen. Plus, I can add photos without having to get film developed and pasting the photo into a little book!

EmBee said...

Heh, 'Nonsense Train'... I like that analogy. It seems a fitting name for what goes on in my head whilst I consider what I'm going to blog about.

I like it! I find it's a great place to remember what happened and vent without too much effort. But I really think you've got a great answer!

wendy said...

Same here (without the show). My trouble is, sometimes, I think the blog entry through in its entirety and then don't bother to type it because it's "resolved" in my mind!

Happy SITS day!

Unknown said...

Happy SITS day! I completely understand that voiceover thing. Not that I do that but I understand.

Karen said...

Yes- Yes-Yes!!

I loved that show...I was so disappointed when they cancelled it...all that juicy teen angst...I was in my late twenties at the time...I'm a nerd!

Happy SITS day!!! Bask in your comment love!!
